Since Covid at the beginning of the year Sabine and I
have not been down to Sima.
We have competent staff who are
looking after the property and are paid regularly from our Tanga DTB
bank.
We also have a new accountant. The old one Mustafa at Patwa
proved to be totally incompetent and as a result we incured late fee
payment on our accounts.
We now have a very nice guy in Tanga called Ali Mehboob. Young and
qualified in UK.

I got the phone number of the guy operating the Pangani ferry.
If you are going down it would be a good idea to check with him
first that the ferry is working.

Just returned from another great trip to Sima.
Present were Myself and Sabine, Christine Cheva for first time along
with 2 friends Jose and Bruno.
Adrian was with us along with 6 of his friends from Germany and
Switzerland.
The river has eroded another 20 meters of beach but with the Kaskazi
blowing now it is rebuilding itself.
I took down 600 empty maize sacks and started to shore up the
erosion. Seems to be working.

Until such time as Torben decides whether to take up the option
for the camp the allocations for that area will be held by the
company. If the option is taken up the company will exchange the
private allocations for Torben in exchange for the designated camp
footprints.

Just back from a five day safari down to the plot. 4th/8th September 2014
Present were Harm and Selina, Ushwin and Seema, Henry Baronet, Mike
and Sabine and Dr. Robert Barbour, the former owner of Sima beach.
Fabulous trip down with little mechanical problems. Roads weren't
too bad and it was probably the quickest trip we have done.
Took a lot of stuff and left it there for next time.
Stopped in Tanga and went shopping for enough wood to complete the
initial club house.
Also visited the biggest supermarket in town and discussed with the
owner about getting supplies delivered to us.
All very promising.
Police were also a lot better than in the past.
Only one mishap on the entire trip.
Had a broken mounting on my radiator and stopped in Mkwaja village for a
little welding.
When I lifted the seat to get the battery cables off I found a small
rat inhabiting the compartment.
Upon discovery he took off across the empty field next to the garage
hotly pursued by twenty Tanzanians who didn't want a Kenyan rat on
the loose in their village.
Seeing this commotion Sabine took off after the pack to the defence
of the little rat.
One of the locals had managed to slow the rodent down somewhat with
a well aimed rock.
Rat was now captive but a little shaken and still well alive.
Sabine went over to protect the little fellow and bent down and picked
him up.
She was promptly rewarded with a serious bite on the thumb.
Blood everywhere.
Also the rat did not let go so one of the locals came over and had
to pry the jaws open with a 10 mm ring spanner.
Once released she insisted the rat be given to her.
It was placed in a small cardboard box and packed in the back of the
Landy.
It arrived back in Tiwi alive and is now in a larger cage eating
carrots.
Life is never dull!

You will all be interested to hear that Henri
Baronet has consented to help us with our building down at Sima.
His wealth of knowledge in the building trade and his love of
Tanzania in general is a godsend to us all.
His condition to help us is conditional on him attaining a footprint
on the river.

Met with owner and confirmed with Ushwin that title and other legal
paperwork should be ready within 4 weeks. Handover will then take
place.
A fourteen (14) day notice will be given before settlement whereas
full payment balance along with shared legal fees incurred to date must be
deposited into the ANJARWALLA & KHANNA client account.
